Pot lights are the most common type of light installed in the past 10 years. However, who would have thought that your standard pot light could become more innovative? Well, introducing the slim LED light! They are a very affordable option for LED with an better install than your traditional pot light. There are multiple options and brands, but the most common ones are only 1/2″ thick with a driver detached from the light itself; therefore no more issues with joists being in the way when trying to space out lights for proper and adequate lighting. They are very bright (dimmers are always recommended), and can come in a variety of colour temperatures ranging from 2700k to 5000k (currently have a dip switch on many brands that allow you to change this within the light itself).
Chad Petriw Electric has used a variety of different brands (definitely not every brand) and have found the Liteline slim LED lights or the Dals Lighting to be one of the best and most available option so far. They are not the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but the best quality for the dollar. These lights also come in two different options for lumens (brightness); the specific lumens options are dependant on the size.
Shown below are the 4″ and 6″ options for the SLIMLED Liteline products. There is also a 3″ gimble style available.
